It's official.  I'm a jogger.  The data from this study has me convinced that I was onto something a few years ago when running performance started to decline and I sought out cross fit and then broke my hip tendon.  I'm at peace, I really am.  Not to say I still won't do a half, or a full marathon again...but I've always been in it for weight control, health and just being outside.  I can't believe what it said about 'fast and frequent running.' That came as a huge suprize.

Nice study. However the numbers of men and women classified as fast and hard core runners were only 80 and no report of the causes of death. With that said, I do believe moderation in all things including exercise. Our bodies naturally slow down and takes longer to recover or heal. I totally agree that jogging at a moderate pace on a regular basis keeps us healthier than the other two extremes of no exercise or excessive exercise. Good on ya! :)

I noticed they didn't specify causes of death, the study was about mortality in general. I thought it was interesting because I've known 2 pretty hard core runners who have died of heart failure fairly young ages (friends of my Dad's in their late 40's and mid 50's). Regardless of the article, I do feel the best I've felt since 2011. I don't have any more arthritis, and Idon't have to think/strategize/worry about food/eating for the duration of a longer run. So, I'm trying to make myself feel justified!
