Running Accomplishments:

I ran my first marathon as a teenager in 1981 with my Dad (The Coronado Marathon). Since then I've run St, George (3x) Utah Valley (3x) Ogden (1 full, 2 halves) Park City (1 x) Boston Marathon (1x) Washington DC (1x) Moab Half Marathon (6x) ,Ye Old Freedom Festival 5 & 10K (a million x) and many others.

But I'm all done with that now.  I'm officially a jogger.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My running goal is to keep on keepin' on.

Jog into the sunset.

 I ran after everyone was gone to school this morning.  But still the clouds were low and dark, the wind was menacing, and the trail totally deserted and littered with branches and fallen leaves.  Everyone is freaking out about the coming snow.  What's the big deal?  I had two mom's whose kids bike with mine to school call me last night frantic about how the kids would be getting to and from school today.  It didn't even occur to me they should do anything but bike. How else are they gonna say "When I was 10, my mom made me ride my bike/walk in snow THIS DEEP " (showing snow up to their necks).  Besides which, the snow is the least of his problems when I'm the Mom. I deeply regret not having a farm where I can put him to hard physical labor which must take place or we starve.  So I figure the least he can do is walk to school. He has a really good coat and gloves.  I hate wondering why I should feel guilty.  It makes me feel guilty that I don't feel guilty.

totally agree! No reason to feel guilty, kids are spoiled nowadays! We all survived walking to and from school and with global warming they've got it easier...right? :)

I had to drive to SLC later and it snowed there, but it never snowed or sleeted at all the whole hour I was outside this morning. It was VERY chilly though.

I'm with you! You're my kinda mom! Heck, I don't even make my kids breakfast. They are fully capable of making them. When my sons threw up on the sideline of the football field, they had nothing to throw up but gatorade they drank during the game. I do not feel guilty that the other parents make their sons eat gigantic meals with protein shakes and supplements and steroid to bulk them up. Call me evil mom or whatever...how else will kids ever learn to be strong! I'm so PROUD of you, Luzy!

Oh, and my kids walk to school all the time because they wouldn't fix the flats of their bikes...serves them right.

Oh, and GOOD JOB running outside today, wind, chill and all!

Yeah, step it up one notch and explain to the mothers they need to instill some gumption in their kids ("gumption"--law's sakes I'm turning into a granny).

I hear you. All the elementary schools in Davis County now have fancy drop-off zones, so the parents can safely dump their kids at school from their SUVs. Make the little buggers walk, I say. My 4 kids do.

AHHH, I love this post! You are so funny, I can totally hear you saying it! And I agree, if my kids school was not 3 miles away they would be walking every day. Our neighborhood school is just around the corner (like a block) and I am alarmed at how many people drive their kids (which I was guilty of on occasion, when I slept in). Kids need to get out and walk or ride!

Glad you had a nice yet lonely run. I love this time of year WHEN there is no wind. It is quiet.
