I am proud to say that after 8 days straight of partying hard, I only gained 3 pounds.  It seems miraculous in light of the parties, the restaurants, and birthday cake(s) (plural).

I ran 5 regular miles and then walk/jogged the last 3.  I wanted to do my normal Saturday 8-10, but wasn't up to it yet.

Gearing up to get back to it.  I took a week off to ski with my sis and her friends who were here for Sundance and my sister's 50th birthday. She brought her entire DC entourage and we didnt every single thing Sundance and Park City have to offer.  I skiied every day for 8 days at every resort in PC and SLC.  It was fun, but I have a skiing hangover.

10 m/m  been a really slow week -- trying to get back into the swing.

Ran  repeats:  10 m/m for 3 min: 9 m/m 30 seconds : 7:30 for 15 seconds.

However, on my mile 4 repeat sprints I jumped off the treadmill (instead of stopping the machine) to run to the bathroom.  I had the TV up really loud in the 6 am darkness and so when I went to get back on the treadmill--I stepped an unsuspecting foot onto the treadmill that was running almost 9 miles an hour (I'd forgotten I didn't turn it off).  I don't know exactly what happened but I have burned off skin from the top of my right hand/forearm and my right shoulder blade (just below the scapula).  I have a perfectly round 2x2 inch bruise on my left shoulder and a really sore right butt cheek/hip.  As I lay in the darkness after having been spit off the machine (having rolled once or twice?) trying to determine if anything was seriously damaged I had to laugh and wonder what that must have looked like.

Finished my run just fine, except I didn't know about the rubbed off skin until the sweat started up again: ouchy.

I ran really slow 11 m/m and reduced my post run sit ups and ham rolls.  I am really sore from yesterday (I didn't realize how much damage I'd done until this morning when I woke up).

I walked a slow 4 miles because after skiing --it became apparent that the real damage done by the 'treadmill incident' was done to my sacrum/ilum region.  Wow, I didn't know before skiing that there was more than a bruise.  Tempted by 10 inches of new powder I couldn't resist.  However, the first time my ski hit a bit of scrape beneath the powder I got a sharp pain that went up and down the left side of my leg and back--which then ached every time I sat on the chair lift.  Silly me, I skied  the rest of the day telling myself I'd be careful to stick with the powder. But when I came home and couldn't get out of the car by myself I wondered how I'd skied all day?  Its proof of my mind can ignore pain when I’m experiencing euphoria or some other pleasurable activity.  Because now, sitting down at my desk, I am in utter pain.  800 mg ibuprophen are not even touching the ache.  Ice helps.  The biggest bummer is not being able to ski this week.  It feels that serious.  Who knew my treadmill could betray me after 12,000 miles, a belt replacement and a tune up.  I can't believe what an idiot I have become (how could I have forgotten it was on?).

ran 6 8.5 mm repeats . I feel like I've been in a car accident. Every day something else hurts. Today it's the bruised shoulder.

The second my back was feeling better, I skied all day long (both fri and sat ). It's hard to find (girl) friends who ski as aggressively/fast as I do, so I took advantage of my BIL's visit, and skied him into the ground (until HIS back was sore). The sun was out, the snow was soft, I got a hearty dose of vitamin D, and also......I skied with Ben Stiller (not kidding). I have a friend on the mountain (he's a makeup artist for several well known male actors, and he's a talented architect) who is selling a very expensive mountain home and Ben was a potential buyer. So he invited me for a few runs. I loved playing the part of the "local". The celebs like to hide in Utah. But they also want it to be fabulous enough to merit a 33 million dollar home.

I wanted to do 7, but I needed to take it easy.I had a massive hypoglycemic episode yesterday while I was alone, and really thought I might go into a coma. It was scary. So I have to do a better job with the oatmeal and barley (those are the only sure fire ways to get and keep my bloood sugar level for 3-4 hours). Also, our renters moved out, and while cleaning out the renal between clients, I found a box of PX90 cd's, the bungees, and the chin up bar! So I did the Yoga CD. It was intense.

10 m/m

I think it's weird that walking and sitting long periods of time hurts my knees more than running. I didn't realize how decrepit / arthtritic I've become until I went to a basketball game at the Marriott  Center and realized I was silently wincing and holding my breath as I watched young people bouncing down the stars three at at time. Also, I have a huge bruise under the toenail of my big toe from my ski boot. Just get me one of those old people walkers already.
