It's been decided: Boston -- April 19th, 2010.  For some serindipitous reason, everyone I know wants to come (even more excited than me--probably because they are not running the race). I have a quite a few friends in the Boston area, but friends from NYC, Connecticut, and New Jersey all want to be there too (and are staying with all the Boston friends).  They've all called each other and now the Boston Marathon has just become our most recent excuse to get everyone together in once place, at one time.  But strangely, even my boss wants to come--that came as gigantic surprize.  I don't even think she knows I run.  But she too loves Boston and thinks it would be exciting to have a good reason to watch the Marathon.  The best news for me is that  Catherine has also decided that she can go!  Even if she has to go alone (which I would prefer, less baggage, if you know what I mean).  Smooth is doing Boston-- plus a lot of others on the blog (Kelli, Scott, Josse (?), Walter,....who else?).  I hope we can get a big group FRB photo!  I thrilled to have something this cool to look forward to. My life is so swallowed up by my kids, their homework, their soccer/basketball games, my work, and cooking a million healty meals every week ( I have food issues that require a lot of effort on my part).  So being in Boston gives me a terrific excuse to see all of my bestest friends, run a race with my bestest running pals, and be somewhere cool in the Spring.  Isn't that just a vortex of fabulous coincidence?  I's so great that a whole lifestyle of eating healthy, sleeping well, excersizing in a way I love actually leads me to these opportunities.  It's like winning the lottery. I feel so lucky.  I know I should feel pleased just knowing that being healthy is a reward in and of itself, but I have learned that good health is a gift you are not always in charge of.  Even people who eat bacon and whisky every day can live to be 100, and perfectly healthy runners drop dead in races of heart attacks.  I'm just glad that in between, I get to see my friends, run with my pals, and be somewhere fun next spring.

What a vortex of fabulousness! Trips are great things to look forward to. Who knows, maybe the coach I hire in November or so will insist I run Boston (slim to nil, but maybe. . .).

Now THAT, is what would make it a perfect trip! I hope you are strong and pain free enough to do it! That would be one killer trip!

From Smooth on Fri, Oct 09, 2009 at 10:29:20 from 174.23.240.142

Hey Luz! Have you booked your room? Me, Teena, Kelli booked our rooms back in April. I booked mine the day after the race. We're staying in Boston Radisson, 0.2 mile from the bus pick up and finish line.

Boston is more than a marathon. It's an event, a runner's mega, a party. Not to mention a destination for Spring vacation.

Are you a Red Sox fan? Are you a history buff? Do you like seafood? Do you like to run through quaint little towns? Do you want to feel like a million bucks...total strangers telling you they LOVE you? Do you know that the BAA don't call you a runner? Every runner, from elites to charity entrants are honored as Athletes! The entry fee gives you a pre-race dinner, all the amenity of a first class marathon, and post race party. It is SO FUN! Can't wait!

HAVE a beautiful FALL weekend!

So wish I could enjoy the excitement with all you wonderfully fast people!! Boston sounds absolutely delightful and if I didn't feel like I was broke I'd come just to hang with everyone and breathe in the excitement as well. I'm sure that is where the 'non-runners' are coming from as well. Every one knows Boston Marathon is an event (as penned by Smooth) and that it is the one and only place to be in April racing! ENJOY!! I am SO excited for your upcoming trip!!!

From LuzyLew on Fri, Oct 09, 2009 at 15:47:26 from 208.187.197.42

RAD, I can't believe that with how fast you are you have not qualified :( I assume EVERYONE is faster than me. When you qualify, hopefully we all will again too, so we can do the Boston experience more than once (after all, Smooth has!).

Smooth-- I can't find you on the blog! I'm blocked from getting to your blog. I wanted to tell you how excited you just made me to go to Boston (as if I wasn't before?). I do like seafood, I do like running through quaint towns, I do want to feel like a real athelete and a million bucks...I DO! Can't say I'm a fan of the Sox though, sorry :( Thanks for the tip on the RAdisson in case there is any more room there. But aFter all this talk, I still need to register for the marathon!

From Smooth on Fri, Oct 09, 2009 at 15:56:33 from 174.23.240.142

Luz, you are qualified for 2010 and 2011. RAD will qualify for 2011. We WILL all enjoy Boston TOGETHER again! Start saving quarters (pennies not gonna do) now! :)

I'm not a Sox fan either! But sure was fun hanging at Fenway Park and learn about the "Green Monster" with friends.

I temporarily disabled my blog. I was going thru a rough emotional time and didn't want negative thoughts penned. I needed some time to help my friend with her father's passing. I also need to help my sis-in-law. Her son, my 17 yr old nephew, was diagnosed with Lymphoma over the marathon weekend. He and his parents are flying to Utah from HK for cancer treatment. This is a good time for me to take the blog down although I miss you girls terribly!

I don't think there will be a boston for me this year:( I have to get this baby biz back on track before I end up with another 8 year gap between kids. I would have love to go though.

From LuzyLew on Fri, Oct 09, 2009 at 16:59:56 from 208.187.197.42

I could feel it Smooth, that something was wrong, which is why I worried. I had hoped I was overreacting to my premonitions. You all will be in my thoughts. I was just now having a conversation with a very close friend of mine about how much of a gift health and life are, and how the best you can do is enjoy the good moments and be grateful for the good things when they are good. There is just so much in between those good times that is hard to take--and we are not in charge of any of it except our attitude. We all love you. We'll all be here when you need us back. At least you have the grace to know when to save your energy for the important stuff right now. God bless.

From LuzyLew on Fri, Oct 09, 2009 at 17:01:05 from 208.187.197.42

Josse, well aren't you just the party pooper! Having a baby. Don't you ever think of the rest of us who have way less important things to do? Geeze. What a pal you are.....
